MY STORY DIDN'T BEGIN WITH CONFIDENCE.

It began by saying yes before I felt ready.

For more than 30 years, I've led in education and high school athletics, often as one of the only women in the room. Every opportunity, challenge, and lesson shaped the leader I am today. My greatest passion is helping others discover they belong before they fully believe it themselves.

THE REAL WORK OF GOING FIRST

For much of my career, I was one of the few women in the room.

Sometimes I was the only one.

I learned early that leadership isn't about always feeling confident. It's about showing up anyway. Speaking when your voice shakes. Raising your hand before you feel completely ready. Believing your perspective has value, even when it's different from everyone else's.

Over time, I stopped asking whether I belonged in the room.

I started asking who else deserved to be there.

That shift changed the way I lead, mentor, and serve. It ultimately inspired me to create the Global Community of Women in High School Sports, because leadership becomes far more meaningful when we help others find their place as well.

Today, whether I'm leading an athletic department, speaking to educators, mentoring leaders, or writing these articles, my mission remains the same.

Help people believe they belong.

Confidence comes after courage.

WHAT I BELIEVE

Leadership is service.

Confidence comes after courage.

Different perspectives strengthen every room.

Success means helping someone else succeed.

The goal isn't simply to earn a seat at the table.

It's to create more seats.

My Journey

I never planned to become a trailblazer.

I simply kept saying yes to opportunities that mattered.

For more than 30 years, I've had the privilege of leading in education and high school athletics, often as one of the only women in the room.

There were seasons when I questioned myself, wondered whether I belonged, and hesitated before raising my hand. Looking back, those moments shaped me just as much as the successes.

Over time, I discovered that leadership isn't about having every answer. It's about showing up with courage, learning from every experience, and creating opportunities for others to grow.

What began as a career in athletic administration gradually became something much bigger. I found myself mentoring emerging leaders, serving on state and national committees, speaking across the country, and advocating for women in high school sports.

Those experiences eventually led me to found the Global Community of Women in High School Sports because I believe leadership should never be a journey someone has to navigate alone.

Today, my greatest joy isn't found in awards or titles. It's found in helping other leaders discover their own voice, build confidence, and create opportunities for those who come next.

Leadership isn't about being the first.

It's about making sure you're not the last.

WHY I DO THIS

Every opportunity I've had came because someone believed in me before I believed in myself.

That's why I mentor.

That's why I speak.

That's why I serve.

That's why I founded the Global Community of Women in High School Sports.

Leadership isn't measured by how far we climb.

It's measured by how many people we help climb with us.
